Tupelo is the largest city in Lee County and the commercial center for a wide surrounding area of North Mississippi. Major corridors — Gloster Street, Main Street, Veterans Boulevard, McCullough Boulevard and the Barnes Crossing area — are the reference points locals use when describing where something is.

Beyond the city limits, Lee County communities like Saltillo, Guntown, Belden, Mooreville, Verona, Plantersville and Shannon each have their own character and, in several cases, their own municipal services and school arrangements.

In-town buying usually means an established neighborhood, city utilities, smaller lots and shorter drives. County buying usually means more land, well or septic in some areas, volunteer or contracted services in others, and a longer drive to work and shopping.

Neither is better; they're a lifestyle trade. Spend a day driving the areas at the times you'd actually be commuting before you commit to one.

School attendance and municipal services depend on the exact address, not the mailing city. A Tupelo mailing address does not automatically mean city limits. Verify the specific parcel with the relevant district and county offices rather than relying on a listing description.
